"Can you remember my face, Professor?"

Shu Torahime is Soemon Nakagami's assistant, working on researching Charisma under him. In the latter half of Season 2, he is welcomed as a guest and stays at the Charisma House.

Appearance

Torahime has tousled, mid-neck length, dark green hair with dark grey strips interspersed through the lower parts of it and bangs that obscure his eyes. These eyes aren't visible in the areas in-between the bangs, akin to the style used for mob characters. He wears a black, long-sleeved t-shirt with the rest of his outfit being unknown to us viewers.

Personality

Torahime is a hard worker under Nakagami's supervision in the hopes of getting the man's attention and praise, trying to get results such as capturing five of the charismatics in Sarukawa's hometown and successfully being welcomed into the Charisma House as a guest. Despite his actions in furthering Nakagami's research, he is typically overlooked, unacknowledged, or ignored. At first, the cold treatment doesn't bother him; instead it motivates him to try hard, going as far as to manipulate the residents into triggering their Charisma Break. But before he can reap the fruits of his labor, his conscience kicks in, leading to him providing kindness and reassurance to the residents. This goes hand in hand with Torahime being prone to making impulsive decisions, typically realizing what he's done in a loud outburst afterwards.

Etymology

• Torahime means "tiger" (虎) and "princess" (姫).
• Shu means "holly osmanthus" (柊). In Hanakotoba, holly osmanthus symbolizes carefulness, foresight and protection.

Trivia

• The alias he gives to the charismatics, Torajiro, comes from the name that Nakagami would often refer to him as instead of his actual name.
  • "Torajiro" also reminds the charismatics of the protagonist with the same name from a film called Tora-san, His Tender Love. Therefore, mostly referring to him as "Tora-san."
