Appearance

Sarukawa has pink hair that is gelled into spikes and grey eyes. He wears a black graphic T-shirt that reads, "ROCK". On top, he wears an oversized biker jacket, which has a number of colors and patterns. The base of the jacket is royal blue with neon orange tiger stripes on the bottom half. The lapels are neon lime green with a black chevron pattern and the sleeves are white with a black and hot pink scattered leopard print on the bottom half separated by a bright purple stripe. On bottom, he wears black jeans with rips in the knees, a hot pink fabric belt with an oval silver belt buckle that has a lightning bolt on it. His shoes are silver, heeled leather boots with a black studded strap on the top. He has a tattoo with a flame-like pattern that wraps partially around his neck, two ring earrings in his lobes and a stud in his left upper lobe.

Personality

Rough around the edges and prone to starting fights, Sarukawa never hesitates to speak his mind and will always refuse a demand no matter how insignificant it is. However, the sincerity behind his refusals is up for debate; there are times where his need to disobey conflicts with his internal thoughts. This causes him to feign pridefulness in an attempt to uphold his rebellious facade, though it typically ends with him struggling to communicate his true feelings.

Despite his attitude typically keeping the other residents at a distance, Sarukawa won't hesitate to rescue them in a pinch, willing to get physical in order to protect those he cares for.

Room

Sarukawa resides in room 104 on the ground floor of the house. His room shows signs of destruction, specifically in the torn wall plaster, boards partially covering the window, and pink markings on the floor. A variety of weapons are scattered across the room, alongside his skateboard leaning against the wall. There's also a notable piece of graffiti above his bookshelf that holds a bunch of CD cases and an amp; this shelf is surrounded by two speakers decorated by a multitude of stickers. He has a torn two-seater and a makeshift table comprised of three tires and a metal sheet. His bed appears to be a twin-sized mattress covered by a white fitted sheet and only holds a singular pillow and blanket.

Etymology

• Kei means "wisdom" (慧).
• Sarukawa means "monkey, ape" (猿) and "river" (川).

Trivia

• He and Iori Motohashi are childhood friends.
• The only person who doesn't refer to Sarukawa by his surname is Fumiya.
• He is stated to be part of a dangerous group called "Picasso".
• His favorite dish is gyoza with fried leeks and liver.
• He has a self-proclaimed little brother named Ryu Yamaguchi. Though it may be similar to just admiring, since in Japan it's common to call the one you admire as big brothers/big sisters.
• His parents aren't mentioned, but he has a grandmother. It's unknown whether their relationship was ever good, but Sarukawa says she annoys him.
• People from his band refer to Sarukawa as "Wolf", and Sarukawa generally likes the thematic of wolves.
• He's sensitive to tickles.
• He doesn’t like vegetables (leafy greens especially) and likes meat the most (especially taiyaki).
• His morning routine everyday is to set his bangs right after waking up.
